BURLINGTON — Vera Sheehan, an Abenaki artist and founding member of the Vermont Abenaki Artists Association, has been granted the Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) Andrea C. Silbert Rising Star Award which was presented at the Annual Auction and Gala on April 26 at the Omni Parker House in Boston. The award recognizes Sheehan as someone who has been economically empowered by her relationship with CWE and celebrates her representation of women who are lifting up the world.

"I am honored to receive this award," said Sheehan in a release. "CWE helped me to be a better leader for our organization. I have been able to share what I learned with our network of artists and recommend they consider CWE classes as well.

The Vermont Abenaki Artists Association is a Native American arts organization that serves the public by connecting them to Abenaki educators and artists. Sheehan, a founding member of the organization, has been instrumental in its success, helping to promote awareness of state-recognized Abenaki artists.

"We are thrilled to recognize Vera Sheehan with the CWE Andrea C. Silbert Rising Star Award," said Gwen Pokalo Hart, vice president of Policy, Center for Women & Enterprise. "She is a talented artist, a committed community leader, and an inspiration to women everywhere. We are proud to support her as she continues to achieve her goals and make a difference in the world."

The Rising Star Program is sponsored by Globalization Partners, a Global PEO and Employer of Record (EOR), helping companies grow their business in over 187 countries.
