What inspired Deborah’s Business?

As a mother of three, Dora found it extremely difficult to work and raise her children while providing the necessary amount of safety, nurturing, and love needed to instill a well-rounded foundation. She knew she wasn't alone in this struggle. She decided to make it her life's purpose to assist parents in providing opportunities for children to develop their minds, physiology, self-esteem, and sense of self-awareness.

Business Highlight

Through her business Bright Beginners Daycare, Dora provides safe and reliable daycare based on her own motherhood experience and her 25 years of working in childcare. She founded Bright Beginners Daycare in September 2001. She had already spent 12 years as a certified elementary school teacher in her native country, Guatemala. When she arrived in the United States, she successfully pursued an Associate's degree in early childhood education. Then, she attended Lesley University where she received a Bachelor&'s degree in Human Development in 2010.

Bright Beginners Daycare is a small family-oriented program, never exceeding a cohort of 10 children. Every child is nurtured by loving and skilled professionals. They value the cognitive, social, and emotional development of every child, and ensure that each child is exposed to a unique experience determined by the assessment of his/her individual needs. They strive to enhance the children's experiences by using a combination of artistic approaches. Their goal is to help relieve parents while providing their children with the necessary foundation for a successful academic career, and life overall. At Bright Beginners, they use a bilingual curriculum (English/Spanish) to inspire the acceptance of cultural diversity, ultimately preparing our kiddos to become positive role models in society. They strongly believe that nurturing a child with love and care makes for the most lucrative impact while boosting each child&'s morale and self-worth.

How Has CWE Helped Her in Her Journey?

Dora has taken CWE classes - like business planning - where she has gained a solid approach to ways to grow and implement all the tools that she is learning. In 2022, she had the opportunity to work closely with CWE and through an intensive couple of weeks, she was able to put together her business projections. Dora has learned and put into practice, skills that will grow her business. She says she feels stronger in her work to continue to offer quality daycare for families and children.

Her business was also positively impacted when she was nominated by CWE for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Homebased Business Owner Award. She also participated in the Women Business Leaders Conference (WBLC) and Women of Color in 2022. Her community, family, and employees were thrilled that Bright Beginners was able to accomplish these achievements. They credit the support and help of CWE.

Dora's 2023 goals are to improve over 2022 by growing in the business aspects of locations, clients, and revenue. She is excited to continue working with CWE to find even more opportunities to grow in the future.
