The Center for Women and Enterprise (CWE) is excited to celebrate William (Bill) Schawbel who is not only a CWE Champion, but a champion for all entrepreneurs. Bill is a founding Board member of CWE and continues to be a strategic and philanthropic partner in our mission to Lift up the Women Who Lift up the World! In addition to CWE, Bill is deeply involved in Junior Achievement (JA), a not-for-profit that prepares young people for employment and entrepreneurship, delivering hands-on, experiential learning in work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Bill's passion around entrepreneurship started when he was at the Bostin Latin School where he had the opportunity to participate in JA as a teenager. From there, Bill became an entrepreneur himself, having now created and sold over thirty companies.
Join us on June 17 as we honor Bill, celebrate CWE&'s acheivements, and raise money that will help CWE continue to lift up the women who lift up the world!
About Bill Schawbel
William (Bill) Schawbel, Chief Executive Officer of Schawbel Companies, was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Schawbel Corporation, a business formed in 1981 through the acquisition of two divisions from The Gillette Company. Bill sold The Schawbel Corporation in 2014, along with its successful ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellant business, and retained ThermaCELL Heated Products under Schawbel Technologies LLC.
Prior to founding The Schawbel Corporation, Bill held senior management positions with The Gillette Company, including President of Gillette - Japan and President of Braun North America. His marketing and management experience includes significant contributions to many of Gillette's divisions within the United States and internationally, with particular success in the areas of acquisitions and new business development.
Over the past forty years, Bill created and sold over thirty companies covering a wide array of consumer products in personal care, housewares, hardware, food and drug, and pest control. He has built relationships with quality offshore manufacturers and, through his University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) connections, a broad and deep network of industry experts.
Bill's in-depth knowledge and relationships in the consumer products market allow for real-time assessment of opportunities with optimal results. His experience and knowledge base is a critical competitive factor in the success of the Schawbel consulting practice.
Bill has also chaired or actively participated as a board member over the past twenty-five years in capital campaigns for secondary schools, universities, disability and community organizations at local, state, national, and international levels. His involvement has included creation of case statements, messaging, and strategic plans geared to justify donor support, along with data mining to create the leadership gift prospect list. He understands that the success of campaigns is tied to clear and focused messaging and the ability to communicate to donors and foundations their Return on Investment.
