Martha Turo
Grants & Special Projects Manager, Development
Martha Turo is CWE’s Grants & Special Projects Manager. In this role, she works with the Director of Grants on identifying grant opportunities, preparing proposals, and reporting. As a Strategic Partnerships team member, she is responsible for donor management, general fundraising, and data entry. She also supports various special projects related to event planning, board relations, meeting coordination, and outreach. Martha originally joined CWE in March of 2020 as the Development Coordinator.
Before joining CWE, Martha worked at a small nonprofit organization, AmericaShare, where she maintained the organization’s donor database and managed a number of large-scale mailing projects and events. She also served as a grant-funded Graduate Intern at the Community Foundation for South Central New York, where she created interactive maps of community services as a tool for donors and community members to use to inform grantmaking decisions in the service area.
Martha is passionate about women’s economic empowerment, exceptional donor stewardship, and effective nonprofit management. She holds a Master of Public Administration and Certificate of Non-Profit Administration from Binghamton University. Prior to that, she completed undergraduate degrees in Psychology and French Linguistics. Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, Martha now lives in the Boston area with her husband, Jack, and their cat, Nunu.
