Martha Turo is CWE’s Director of Grants. In this role, she is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, preparing proposals, and reporting on CWE's work. She also works with the Development Team on donor management, general fundraising, and data entry. Martha originally joined CWE in March of 2020 and has previously held the roles of Development Coordinator and Grants and Special Projects Manager within the organization.

Before joining CWE, Martha worked at a small nonprofit organization, AmericaShare, where she maintained the organization’s donor database and managed a number of large-scale mailing projects and events. She also served as a grant-funded Graduate Intern at the Community Foundation for South Central New York, where she created interactive maps of community services as a tool for donors and community members to use to inform grantmaking decisions in the service area.

Martha is passionate about women’s economic empowerment, exceptional donor stewardship, and effective nonprofit management. She holds a Master of Public Administration and Certificate of Non-Profit Administration from Binghamton University. Prior to that, she completed undergraduate degrees in Psychology and French Linguistics. Originally from Poughkeepsie, New York, Martha now lives in the Boston area with her husband, her daughter, and their cat, Nunu.
