What inspired Mariel’s business?
Mariel was inspired to start Melaza Dance Studio by her deep-rooted passion for dance, which was instilled in her from childhood in the Dominican Republic. Growing up in a musical and artistic family, she dreamed of owning a dance studio to share her love for Latino-based dance and educate others. With years of experience in competitive dance, choreography, and studio instruction, she was determined to create a welcoming space where individuals of all backgrounds could connect through movement, culture, and community.

Mariel founded Melaza Dance Studio in May 2024 to bring a dance space to Manchester, New Hampshire. The studio focuses on preserving and celebrating Latino dance, music, and culture through salsa and bachata instruction.
