Working with CWE has been nothing short of life changing. It has helped me believe in myself and in the value my business brings to the world.

What inspired Katie’s business?

Katie was inspired to start her own business when working in commercial banking in Silicon Valley. She was spending a lot of time worrying about the health of the country and earth while simultaneously feeling like she had no direct impact on anything in her job. She realized that most of the things she was passionate about centered around food. So she made the decision to quit her job and intern on a farm.

Business Highlights

Katie founded Wild Earth Farm in 2016, starting with her first chicks, cows, and piglets. After relocating to Vermont in 2022, she expanded her offerings to include creative products like wool sponges and tallow balms. Her elevator pitch explains that in a world of increasingly unhealthy food and toxic household items, she offers nose to tail products including grass-fed meats, wool sponges, and tallow balms and candles that honor earth and animal. These products are for women who want to connect with their food, nourish themselves, and live well on a healthy planet.

How CWE Has Helped Katie

CWE has been instrumental in Katie’s entrepreneurial growth. They provided a business boot camp and one-on-one coaching that helped her navigate new ventures like wool sponges and women’s retreats. CWE empowered Katie to overcome fears, stay focused, and grow her wholesale accounts. Their connections and mentorship gave her the tools to refine her marketing strategies and believe in the value her business brings. CWE’s support has been transformative, enabling Katie to expand her farm-based business with confidence and creativity.

How Does She Feel About Owning Her Own Business?

Owning her own business sometimes makes Katie feel like she knows and can do nothing, and sometimes it makes me feel like she's capable of doing anything. It has helped her realize that she has what it takes to meet the day no matter what the day brings.  She loves that she can bring connection to people whether they are eating our beautiful meats, washing dishes with wool sponges, or following along on social media from thousands of miles away. She feels extremely grateful to be able to learn from the earth and to live a life where I do feel like I have a direct impact on things.

How has the journey of building her own business changed Katie’s life

Katie says that owning her own business has changed her life in every way imaginable. She started her farm on family land in Rhode Island where she lived in a shed with no electricity or running water for two years. She now co-owns her Vermont farm and feels that her experiences were so challenging in so many ways, that they stretched her over and over again until her capacity to hold all of the things in life grew. If you told her even ten years ago that this was the life she would be living, she never could have imagined it.

What creating a business of her own has done for Katie

Creating her own business has empowered Katie to pursue her passions, connect deeply with the earth, and inspire others through sustainable products. She also explains that it’s hard to own a business with the person you love, especially when it’s a business that you live on and that demands so much from you. But it’s also incredibly special to work alongside that person every day and build a life you really believe in.
