How We Get Our Statistics

Client Demographics

When a client first comes to CWE they fill out a form that provides us with demographic information.

Impact Data

The Center for Women & Enterprise has an extensive data collection and evaluation system in place.  Each client’s information and activity is collected at four points in time.

Initial Visit
Each client that comes to CWE fills out a Client Information Form that captures their personal and business demographics.  This information serves as a baseline from which to evaluate a client’s progress as they move through CWE’s programs and services.

Upon Completion of a Program
CWE measures specific immediate outcomes related to the program the client completed.

One Year
A short-term follow-up survey captures a client’s personal and business outcomes one year after they have completed a program.

Three Years
A long-term follow-up survey captures a client’s personal and business outcomes three years after they have completed a program

The impact data is extrapolated from our annual short-term and long-term impact surveys. For example, if 50% of survey respondents who came to CWE to start a business say they started a business, then we extrapolate from that that 50% of all clients who came to CWE to start a business started a business. The same is true for our other impact measurements such as increase understanding, increase revenue, increase to personal income, etc. The job starts and wages numbers are extrapolated from the impact survey data and calculated using a formula based on the job creation and salary information disclosed by survey respondents.
